As my name (Nestor) was mentionned in previous posts, I'd like to add a few words for my first post.
Hopefully this will help explain different legitimate reactions in a different light.
1. I was the KDS player buffing from 19:56 till 20:09 CET (when the base
disappeared) non-stop inside the base perimeter at -553 -3308. I was
behind the concrete walls, right next to the door -but did not enter
the base per se.
2. I was the only person spending that time bracket non-stop in that
specific area (ppl came for buffs and departed asap), thus many KDS
people relied on my report.
3. Within that time, I didn't see any reb approaching, not to mention entering the base.
4. When the base disappeared around me at 20:09, all I could see was:
two other KDS waiting for my buffs, my droid and myself.
I saw no reb "popping up" as normally happens once a base evaporates.
So I did report through guild chat that it seemed to me like a
massive bug had happened. Being the sole eye-witness at KDS, I tried to
supply as much information as I could (ie points 1-4 above), including
GU screen-shots where I'm saying "What the heck... Base is gone... Yep,
just like that... No, can't see any Rebs in sight... Seems like a
massive bug... Etc.
First reactions on GU were overwhelmingly similar, many ppl
suggesting that the base may pop up back after server reset -as we all
have experience of items disappearing in inventroy until next reset-.
Additional GU reactions came up after words from reb contacts said
TSA didn't send a demo team (so quiet a secretive plan indeed, double
congrats).
TBH, rare were the ones explaining it by an "exploit", although I
can only understand that in the face of uncertainty and disbelief,
every one has a right to explore all possibilities, regardless of ego
size :-)
In any case, many of us did open a ticket to CSR mentionning what we
believed to be a massive bug -which in the light of last night
available data was only fair and candid-. Some may have used the word
exploit but that word wasn't used in the copy/paste text to CSR
provided by High Command, so we had a coherent message from all CSRs to
read.
Turns out it wasn't a bug :-)
Turns out it's a new way to destroy bases which can be attempted by
almost anyone now -even lonely rogues not remotely interested in the
GCW RP (which bothers me a bit but that's SOE job to fix, like CM's and
co)-, although the creative credits will always remain for its inventor
-or first-user on this server- :-)
Turns out there are ways to prevent them, although as explained
above Turrets can't do anything against it -which is good news tbh so
no need to give away free 3am turrets destruction.
In any case, well done for the tactic and its implementation.
You REALLY had my eyes scratching in disbelief for long hours :-).
/salute
